Welcome to the 7th Nordic Music Therapy Congress
held in Jyväskylä, Finland, June 13-17, 2012!
The title of the congress, "Music therapy models, methods and techniques", refers to the fundamental basis of music therapy, which we aim to explore from various perspectives. We encourage researchers, clinicians, trainers and students to join together and share their findings, expertise and experiences. The main focus will be around the title of the congress, but we welcome interdisciplinary perspectives as well, and hope to have many music psychologists, music educators, musicologists, and psychotherapists among us. The congress will include invited keynote lectures, oral presentations, poster sessions, workshops and symposia arranged around specific themes.
The University of Jyväskylä is located in Central Finland, and is the third largest University in the country. The Department of Music is an internationally recognized research centre, and since 2008 has hosted the Academy of Finland nominated Centre of Excellence in Interdisciplinary Music Research. Our laboratories and other facilities will be open during the congress, and we will gladly show you around and tell you more about our research work and related infrastructure. In addition to the official congress programme, we will offer you unforgettable (and participatory!) musical experiences, cruises on beautiful Lake Päijänne, and various other interesting events. Those who have visited Jyväskylä in the past know what to expect!
